Re-using the same arguments about religion on the internet is kind of a waste of time. Every single comment thread of every single major post in r/atheism boils down to the same people arguing about the same thing using the same reasoning. Overzealous atheists and theists decry each other’s beliefs until they get bored, move to the next thread, and start all over again.
I will vote for Ron Paul for one reason above all others.
If elected, he will shake shit up. It doesn’t even matter if all or even most of his changes are positive, but he’ll get the ball rolling on making changes that have active effects in the lives of U.S. citizens and he just might get other people willing to make bigger changes, too.
“Oh, we have the votes. That’s not the problem. The problem is the candidates. By the time election day rolls around our choices are rich guy/girl A or wealthy guy/girl B because campaign financing ensures only those with access to truckloads of money are put forth as potentially viable candidates and votes for anyone not on the ballot or blasting the airwaves 24/7 are at best throw-away votes and at worst handing the election to the worse of the 2 evils you are presented with… so, like everyone else, you have to pick which evil makes you the least sick at your stomach.”—
“All of our lives we’ve been told what to believe. Nothing is perfect, so what’s the point of purpose? The line that separates the weak from us who truly care is one I don’t intend to cross. The heart of man beats but only in greedy hands, and it seems that those are still content. Where most are comfortable accepting insignificance we strive to find the effort within. If you open up your eyes, and open up your minds, you will be exposed to world that is as cold as those who are left to populate it. 2 decades spent swallowing lie after lie has sparked a fire in my heart, and the time has come to spread the flame. We can’t continue wasting time, day after day, trying to find a new means of escape. We do this day after day. And I can’t face the disconnect, I’ll shed the dead weight and rise. I never thought that I would need to justify a reason to continue on in this life I lead. I fucking hate the world, I fucking hate myself, and I swore I’d never fucking feel like this.”—Counterparts - The Disconnect

I’ll definitely post more details as they are announced. Seriously, don’t miss this.
Been watching The Wonder Years lately. The show, not the band, although there’s been plenty of them too. And I’ve decided that Kevin Arnold is a douche who is far too concerned with what everyone else thinks of him all the time.
His brother Wayne gives him shit nonstop. How does he not understand that if he throws it back in his (unabashedly stupid) brother’s face he’d get a lot farther? Wayne torments him constantly with “Oh, is Winny Cooper your GIRLFRIEND?” and “I can’t believe you like ____, that’s so LAME.” Why doesn’t Kevin just say “Yeah Winny Cooper’s my girlfriend, fuck off. Yeah I hang out with a Jewish kid, fuck off. You don’t have a girlfriend or any friends, so fuck off.”
If anyone at school teases Kevin his immediate reaction is “NO SHUT UP GAHHHH.” Why doesn’t he roll with things more? This kid is more concerned with what other people think than any other character I’ve seen or person I’ve met. And the great irony is that if he cared less, other peoples’ opinion of him would undoubtedly be higher.
Yeah, yeah, it’s a TV show, who cares. I don’t know whether to hate Kevin’s character or just chalk it up to poor writing.
